OK – I know I’m a bit behind in these entries. I’ll have entries for my September (Self-Inflicted Yet Again) Marathon, the Fifth Avenue Mile, the WDW Tower of Terror 10 miler and the Chicago Marathon posted this week. However: I needed to share this before I completely forget!
The Top 10 Signs Seen During The 2012 Chicago Marathon:
10. “Hey complete stranger – we’re proud of you!”
9. “The Kenyans went that way.”
8. “26.2….because 26.3 would be crazy.”
7. “17 miles to beer.”
6. “pain is temporary – pride is…..oh you know the rest.”
5. “You’re chaffing. I’m cheering. Suckers!”
4. “Release your inner Kenyan.”
3. “Masochist: someone who gets pleasure out of pain.”
2. “Worst. Parade. EVER.”
And my personal favorite:
1. “Do Epic Shit.”
I believe my favorite was “If this were easy, it’d be called YOUR MOM.” Definitely adds a hint of mean-spiritedness but if I were running past it, I’d definitely laugh.
Thanks for the comment, Dan! I saw that one too – should have thrown it into the mix!
Way too funny. Would motivate me to keep going just to see what else was next.
“Hey complete stranger – we’re proud of you!”
This one always makes me smile!!!!!!
Thanks for the comment Krissy! That one is always fun to see…but I cannot wait for NYC! The signs here are HYSTERICAL!!
My favourite sign at the Brighton Marathon was “Fags and Booze In 5 Minutes” – when we got there there was a massive party of spectators with booze but also jelly babies for the non-drinkers.
I love the Garmin sign 🙂
Thanks for the comment! What’s a jelly baby? (since it’s non-alcoholic, my knowledge base is lacking…) LOL
Its a kind of UK candy, a bit like gummy bears but softer. They are really good for fuelling during long distance runs and much cheaper than energy gels!
You can also make a drink by leaving a packet of them in a bottle of vodka for a few days 😉
Vodka + jelly babies + a few days fermentation = fun!
Nice 🙂 A friend doing Ironman WA yesterday and her husband put ‘Move you Lazy Log Alicia!’ 🙂 I love the signs and quotes! My little boy is 1 and we chalked the pavement for Daddy’s race yesterday – ‘Sorry I ate all your bananas Daddy!’. Nice site, I’ll be dropping by for the odd read 🙂 Faye

Thank you so much!!!
