October 6th 2018

After two days of patiently waiting for the side effects of a pulled abdominal muscle, I got a little antsy.  I still felt a tad under the weather, but I needed to just stretch my legs a little.  I was able to log 2 relaxed miles in the evening, before crashing for the night.  I should be better tomorrow.  Patience is NOT my virtue.

October 4th and 5th 2018

Thursday and Friday were awful days.  Long hours in the office, constant nausea and a higher-than-normal stress levels contributed to me cancelling my workouts and allowing myself to heal.

When I push myself hard  for a number of days in a row (and that number tends to be unpredictable and never ceases to surprise me), it never fails: I always pull an abdominal muscle.  I know when it happens, because I begin feeling sick to my stomach and my hunger level drops through the cellar.  This is a good thing – less calories equals the loss of a pound or two on days when I’m not sweating through a technical shirt or two.  It also equates to a lack of sleep and a severe headache from the lack of calorie intake.  Fortunately for me, this only lasts about 48 hours, and then I’m good to go.  So I rested, popped some Advil for the migraine and waited this one out.
